Downton Abbey on PBS has formed quite the following since it’s first episode in 2010. It is not just the plot twists, backstabbing, gossip and society expectations of the time that keep us intrigued each season — it is the fashion and decor!
Classic. Traditional. Neoclassical. Victorian infused English Manor Homes set the time and scene of this soap-opera style drama. Precise placements of each piece of furniture with layered rich colors upon textures upon textures. Carved mouldings on walls, ceilings and furnishings add intricate detail to every item making it special and luxurious. Plush fabrics upholster the chairs, settees and drape the large scale windows. The only thing simple is the Butler’s uniform.

PARTY THEME : An idea for Season 4 premiere night, January 5, 2014, is to invite friends over for a 1920’s Downton Abbey themed party! Blogger Decorologist, perfected the fashion, food, ambiance and decor for her holiday event. She even projected an image of the cast onto the outside of her home. WOW!
For those of you who may not have been following the show ; Downton Abbey is the name of the fictional Yorkshire estate in which the Crawleys reside. The real-life location used is Highclere Castle located in the county of Hampshire. The present Earl and Countess of Carnarvon are still living there (as the character from the show, Cora’s bedroom is shown in present day above). Designed by a pre-eminent Victorian architect and filled with stunning paintings, tapestries and furniture.
