Our Blue Garden Classic Candle from NEST Fragrances features blue hydrangea, hyacinth and forget-me-nots blended with fresh green notes and a dew drop accord to create the aroma of a lush floral garden. Housed in a translucent navy glass jar, a portion of the proceeds of this sale are donated to Autism Speaks.

Today, April 2nd, people all around the nation will unite to celebrate  World Autism Awareness Day.

The National Institute of Mental Health reports, “Autism, a brain disorder that affects 1 to 2 in 1,000 Americans, too often results in a lifetime of impaired thinking, feeling and social functioning — our most uniquely human attributes. Autism typically affects a person’s ability to communicate, form relationships with others, and respond appropriately to the external world. The disorder becomes apparent in children generally by the age of 3.  Some people with autism can function at a relatively high level, with speech and intelligence intact. Others have serious cognitive impairments and language delays, and some never speak. In addition, individuals with autism may seem closed off and shut down, or locked into repetitive behaviors and rigid patterns of thinking.”

It is quite possible that each and every one of you know someone affected by this disorder.

To help support these efforts and awareness, we are donating a percentage of every purchase from the sale of our Nest Blue Garden Candles to Autism Speaks.

Nest founder and CEOLaura Slatkin, will be appearing live todayApril 2, on NBC’s “TODAY” on a segment that will begin at 10:38 a.m ET.  Laura, who will be part of a three-person panel of experts in the field, will be on the show to discuss her personal story about how autism has affected her family and her life, as well as her continued efforts to raise awareness and funds for critically important programs and resources.

The Blue Garden Classic Candle, which benefits Autism Speaks, will also make its own appearance on the show during Kathie Lee & Hoda!
