Whether you have Irish roots or not, who doesn’t love a good excuse to celebrate the Irish heritage with some good hearty cooking and Irish brews or whiskies?
St. Patrick’s Day, as best described on Wikipedia, “was made an official feast day in the early seventeenth century and is observed by the Catholic Church, the Anglican Communion (especially the Church of Ireland), the Eastern Orthodox Church and Lutheran Church. For Christians, the day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. However, it has gradually become more of a secular celebration of Irishness and Irish culture.”
Always falling on March 17th, many communities honor this celebration with parades or festivals which one thing is standard…the color green! Wikipedia further states, “Originally, the colour associated with Saint Patrick was blue. Over the years the colour green and its association with Saint Patrick’s Day grew. Green ribbons and shamrocks were worn in celebration of St Patrick’s Day as early as the 17th century.”
We have compiled a collage of a few of our favorite St. Patrick’s Day recipes, along with a few of our favorite green hued pieces, to get your home ready, in style, for this jovial celebration. Luck O’ the Irish be with you always!
