Go Red! First Friday benefiting the American Heart Association

This month our First Friday cel­e­bra­tion coin­cides with National Wear Red Day. We are teaming up the with Amer­ican Heart Asso­ci­a­tion for this event. Wear red, come in and do some Valen­tines Day shop­ping, visit with friends, get some heart health tips from TGH nurses, stress reduc­tion tips from yoga instruc­tors and if you make a dona­tion to the Amer­ican Heart Asso­ci­a­tion — you will receive a $25 gift card to use at Clayton Gray Home during the month of Feb­ruary. We want to show you that we love you with our whole heart and more! We will have cock­tails and heart healthy nib­bles avail­able for our guests as well. If you aren’t in the Tampa area, never fear, we have you cov­ered. We cre­ated a Heart Health Pin­terest board with lots of tips, recipes, guide­lines, videos and other heart health edu­ca­tional tools. What are ways that you can help improve your heart health? Did you know that heart attack symp­toms are dif­ferent for women than for men? And that heart attacks in woman are one of the most mis­di­ag­nosed con­di­tions? It is also well doc­u­mented that women will take aspirin with the onset of early heart attack symp­toms but will be resis­tant to calling 911. If you feel the need to take the aspirin, you need to call 911. Also, a little tip, in order to be seen quicker at the hos­pital arrive by ambu­lance. As women, many of us feel as though we are over­re­acting and don’t want to be a bother so we won’t call 911. If you think you may be suf­fering a heart attack, IT IS TIME TO BE A BOTHER. Be edu­cated and be aware so that if you, or someone you love ever suf­fers any of these symp­toms you can be proac­tive and not reactive.
