Coat Agreement

In 1910, the Diputación Foral de Navarre approved the first official design of the coat of arms of Navarre. The event coincided with the celebration of the seven centenary of the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, in a legend whose origin attributed the origin of the chains of the coat of arms. A few months later, Francisco Franco signed a decree (BOE of 14 November) which presented the province of Navarre with the Cross of the Laureats of San Fernando in recognition of his help in the war. The Diputación quickly adapted the coat of arms model to the new element and, as in previous cases, the agreement contained an image. After the Franco regime, the Laureat cross was removed from San Fernando, causing great controversy between supporters and opponents of the withdrawal. The agreement contained an image of the coat of arms with a royal crown of which nothing said the text of the agreement, but this was the purpose of the First Constitutional Amendment in 1931, two months after the proclamation of the Second Spanish Republic. On July 8 of the same year, the Diputación Foral agreed to replace the royal crown with a mural crown, as had happened to the coat of arms of Spain. 6.2.
